Cat charity makes emergency appeal to deal with surge in unwanted cats...

Cats Protection’s Wear Valley & Darlington Branch has today issued an emergency appeal in response to a dramatic rise in the number of unwanted cats needing the charity’s help.

Volunteer spokesperson said: “This surge in unwanted cats is extremely distressing. It is a crisis for the cats and it piles additional pressure onto our volunteers. The Wear Valley & Darlington branch is stretched to the limit looking after the cats in its care as all our foster spaces are full.

Adult cats in particular are looking for loving forever homes, we offer full rescue back up support and all our cats are neutered, micro chipped, vaccinated and vet checked as well as fully insured for 4wks.

Cats like Dylan who is a lovely friendly cat but has a pronounced heart murmur. (Tabby and white pic attached)

Gizmo the ginger and white boy who has trust issues so occasionally lashes out, or Maggie our black and white who has FIV.

“I fear unless we home some of these cats soon this could push Cats Protection Wear Valley & Darlington Branch to breaking point and leave us unable to help many more unwanted cats out there so we are urgently asking for help,”
